3D Printing Clear Transparent Models

It all starts with the modelling material. Surprising as it may seem, not all and in fact very few 3D printers suitable for the office environment have the capability to produce clear or transparent parts. This is largely down to the limited development of clear materials by the 3D printer manufacturers and also whether or not the technology they use to create a model layer by layer lends itself to producing a good quality clear part.

For example, powder based systems such as the ZCorp or 3D Systems Projet do not have the materials or the technical capability to print clear models. These 3D printers use a fine gypsum based powder as the main modelling material, which is not available in a clear format.

Furthermore, very few Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM) 3D printers have a viable solution for 3D printing clear parts. FDM technology uses a fine filament of modeling material (usually ABS or PC) which is then heated to a molten state and then extruded through a fine nozzle (typically 178 – 330 micron layer thickness). Although this technology does offer users a clear or transparent option, due to the relatively high layer thickness and construct of the models, the parts require a high degree of finishing by hand (sanding and filling) and getting a smooth surface finish can be very labour intensive.

You need to 3D print lenses, bottles, tubes, containers, enclosures, LCD panels, large components and small components, so what’s the answer?

Objet VeroClear material is one of a range of materials available from 3D printer manufacturer Stratasys, capable of producing clear parts both quickly, reliably and cost effectively, with the minimum of post processing.

Developed by world leading 3D printer manufacturer Stratasys Ltd, Objet VeroClear material can be used in a wide range of Objet 3D printers, including the Objet 30 Pro Desktop 3D printer, the Objet Eden range of design series 3D printers including the Objet Eden 260V, Objet Eden350V and Objet Eden 500V systems. Plus, the full range of Objet Connex multi-material 3D printers including the Objet260 Connex, Objet 350 Connex, Objet 500 Connex and Objet 1000.

All these 3D printers use patented Objet Polyjet 3D printing technology, the most efficient and reliable form of creating a 3D printed model from a liquid resin.

So what makes Polyjet print technology so much better than the others?

Stratasys Objet 3D printers have the capability to print parts in very fine layers, either 30 micron layers (High Speed mode)or 16 micron layers (High Quality mode). The materials are all photo-curable, using a UV bulb to change the printed material from a liquid state to a solid state. The material is UV cured during the printing process, and eliminates the need for any post curing in a UV chamber or oven after the print job is finished.

Finally, due to the very fine layering capability of the Objet printers, model surfaces are smooth and therefore require very little finishing or post processing. Models directly from the 3D printer have an excellent level of transparency, and with little effort can be polished to create an optically clear part

Objet VeroClear material can be bring great benefits to applications where clear transparency, accuracy and good dimensional stability are required, such a simulating PMMA LED lenses for the automotive lighting industry, or applications where visualisation is important, such as monitoring fluid flow within medical devices, sanitary ware and utility metering. Additionally, Objet VeroClear material can be put to great effect within the architectural, interior and exterior design, model making and special effects industries.

Kyocera Laser Printer – How to Clean the Printer After Cartridge Replacement

Like most printers, the Kyocera laser printer also needs periodic cleaning. And Kyocera made the process as simple as possible. The reason is obvious! It is really expensive to hire a printer technician to do the cleaning and maintenance job on the printer.

Cleaning of the Kyocera laser printer is conducted after every toner cartridge replacement. That is why for every purchase of a Kyocera toner cartridge a set of maintenance instructions is included in the pack.

If the toner cartridge is refilled with a toner refill kit instead of being replaced with an OEM Kyocera toner cartridge, the cleaning process is outlined as follows.

1. Open the left hand side panel of the Kyocera laser printer and immediately the waste toner bottle appears (but leave it as is).
2. Pull the green knob (at the top of the waste toner bottle) in and out gently. The movement will clean the charging wire.
3. Next pull the charger grid or the rectangular green box underneath the green knob and clean it by using the lid of the slate blue box.
4. Insert the lid into the long rectangular charger grid slot and move it to and fro at least 3 to 4 times. This should clean the charger grid.
5. After cleaning, push the charger grid all the way in. Cleaning is now complete. Close the printer’s access panel.

The simple cleaning process as advised should clear the printer of basic printing issues. In instances where a maintenance job on the Kyocera laser printer as devised by the manufacturer could not resolve the printing problem, a more intricate issue must be the reason. Only the help of a trained printer technician could resolve the printing irregularities.

Samsung Printer Cartridges

A printer is one of the most important components of modern day work functions. It could be for a commercial or even an educational purpose but the effectiveness of a printer in the task of imaging is crucial at times.

Even though the printer is an important facet of work areas there is no denying the fact that a printer is mainly moved upon the services that are provided by its ink cartridges.

Printer cartridges are a replaceable component of a printer that supplies the ink during a printing process to be applied on the page.

Samsung Printers

One of the most well known brands in the field of electronics manufacture Samsung has also introduced a range of printers in the market.

Here is a list of the different printers for your reference.

  • Samsung Color Laser Printers – This is a range of the quietest and the fastest processing printers available today. This is also a range that offers the most affordable range of printers that does it job both in colored as well as black and white printing.
  • Samsung Laser Printers – This is also a range that is known for its efficiency and cost effective line of printers. Speed coupled with other advanced features is the hallmark of these printers.
  • Samsung Inkjet Printers – This is especially effective in the printing of high quality photographic images. There is an implementation of the thermal dye transfer technology in this that delivers high quality imaging.

Samsung Cartridges

There are several companies in the world that make quality printers. Companies like Epson, HP, Canon and Brother among many others are well known and popularly used brands.

Samsung too has created a niche for itself in the market owing to the vast range of choice of printers along with features and price options that they have reached out to people in different corners of the world.

The one thing that remains common between all the manufacturers of printing machines is that they all provide the inkjet cartridge along with the machine at the time of purchase. Apart from this they also encourage buyers and users to buy only original company made inkjet printer cartridges.

This is also the same in case of Samsung printers. Samsung printer cartridge is available in package offers across the company website as well as in authorized stores that can be bought whenever needed.

There are offers that are given out on the Samsung toner cartridge in value packs and these have cartridges of different colors available. There are hues of black, yellow and magenta among others.

It is established by Samsung that the usage of original company made Samsung printer cartridges would ultimately benefit the user. It is because they feel that the low turnout of paper printing in machines with cheap versions of laser toner cartridges will only increase your costs and provide inferior quality imaging.

To facilitate this there are several savior packs of Samsung laser toner cartridges that are available across official websites and other authorized company stores where you can avail them at cost effective prices.

How To Choose a Wide-Format Printer for Maximum Business Efficiency

When you choose a new wide-format printer, it’s natural to think about the obvious physical attributes of the device in question – roll-fed or flatbed design(or hybrid), width or format, how many ink colours (including white and/or metallics), (eco) solvent, UV-curable or latex inks, the range of supported substrates, resolution and print modes and speeds. High volume users, especially with flatbed printers, may want to think about automation options for unattended operation and multiple-shift working.

But what the purchaser of any new wide-format printer should also be thinking about is the type and quality of job information that the device can capture and pass on for production management and analysis. Even if that one printer is going to be the totality of your printing business, you will need to integrate it with your production and business systems to maximise the value you can achieve from it and to minimise the costs of its operation and maintenance.

As well as providing an audit trail for quality assurance purposes, automatically gathering accurate and detailed production information allows wide-format print service providers to see exactly what each job costs, not only in terms of substrate and ink usage but more importantly, in operator and machine time. Many wide-format print service providers rely on ‘per square metre’ costs that often assume rather idealised working conditions.

During busy periods operators are unlikely to take the time to log or record their activities but unforeseen manual intervention is an unpredictable and often costly factor in production that can make the difference between profit and loss on a particular job. Re-running jobs due to un-noticed faults in incoming files, for example, is a sure-fire way to lose money on a job.

The more this aspect of operations can be captured and analysed, the better the understanding of true production costs that can be achieved. This information helps to identify profitable types of work – and customers – so that these can be actively pursued, while providing earlier warning of problems that cause delays and escalate production costs, whether caused by supplied artwork or by internal practices.

The functionality of different manufacturers’ products varies in this respect but ideally a wide-format printer will be able to record and communicate for each job its dimensions or linear meterage, the substrate used, the resolution and printing mode (single or multiple-pass, for example) and colour management settings, machine status (printing, idle, offline for maintenance or fault conditions), operator input, and ink and media usage. For roll-fed devices, a ‘media remaining’ indicator is also extremely valuable in planning work.

Capturing and communicating data of this type involves both the printer and the RIP, so the degree of integration between the two and then onward from the RIP to a production workflow system and/or MIS are important factors to ask about. Although many RIP/front-end systems have a facility to output data in simple common file formats such as CSV or Excel-compatible spreadsheet, automatic data transfer will reduce the potential for error or delay. If operators have to carry out additional processes to capture or transfer this information, it is less likely that it will be done, especially at peak times when it is perhaps most important to know exactly what’s going through the shop and how long it’s taking.

To get the most out of your next wide-format printer, make sure you add ‘integration capabilities’ to your checklist.

McAfee Problems With a Wireless Printer: How to Fix Them

“I’m unable to configure my wireless printer when McAfee is turned on, how do I fix it? McAfee doesn’t let me share files in my home network, what do I do? After installing McAfee updates, I can’t wirelessly print on my wireless network, what do I do?” These are some of the common problems which users face when using their wireless printer with McAfee program installed. It looks bizarre when some things work with McAfee while some don’t.

McAfee problems can erupt anytime with your wireless printer no matter how hard you try to stave them off. On the other hand, it also doesn’t mean that you’ll continue to face problems when using your wireless printer with McAfee antivirus/firewall turned on. However, there can miscellaneous reasons that may result in such problems that you may or may not be able to fix without professional computer support.

I’m explaining some of the McAfee problems with wireless printers here. Check them out and their possible fixes also:

· Regular use

· McAfee updates

· Windows updates or updates from the printer manufacturer

· Changes in current configuration and settings

· Incorrect printer configuration

· Compatibility issues between McAfee and wireless printer

· Miscellaneous problems

Upon encountering a problem, you should always check the error message first. The error message often indicates problem with a particular program or service. Thus error message itself serves as a possible solution to a problem. I can give you an example of this. Sometimes, when you receive ‘The Print Spooler service has stopped working’, you know what to do. You will restart the Print Spooler service and that’s it. Your problem will be fixed. Though you should also look in to what probably caused to stop it. In a nutshell, I want to say that an error message itself may suggest a solution to your problem.

If you are unable to share your printer with other computer, there can be miscellaneous reasons behind this problem. Upon facing this problem, you can always first check whether you have added the IP address of the printer to your McAfee firewall’s permission list or not. This has been observed as the most common reason in not being able to share printer with other computer or device. So change your McAfee settings to add printer’s IP address to the permitted networks and get going. Now this is not going to fix all the problems related to printer sharing but will definitely fix the one which it is related to.

Bad McAfee updates can surely cripple your printer as well as computer. If this seems to be the case, you must immediately report about it to McAfee technical support. This will help them find out if other customers are also facing a similar problem and thus if there is a need for launching a fix or not. I am also suggesting an article here that describes how you can fix a McAfee-crippled computer.

Like McAfee updates, Windows updates can also be messy. They may result in conflicts between McAfee and your wireless printer. So, install only necessary updates and not all of them. When it comes to driver software for your wireless printer, it will be better if you download them from the manufacturer’s website and not through Windows updates.

Compatibility issues between McAfee and your wireless printer can lead to miscellaneous problems in your computer. McAfee has given a complete chart of compatible McAfee and wireless router/printer versions on its website. Before you buy a wireless printer/router, do check this chart. This helps make sure that you buy the right, compatible version and no issues occur between McAfee and your wireless printer.

Changes in your printer’s or McAfee’s configuration & settings may result in problems. The best thing you can do to fix it is by restoring the old configurations. If the changes are needed, then make sure you do them in the right way. McAfee problems with your wireless printer can also be sorted out using automated troubleshooter either provided by McAfee or your wireless printer manufacturer.

Preparing to Become a Dye Sublimation Display Printer – What Do I Need to Know

Question: Could you recommend a sublimation printer?

Answer: No. I post these Q & A articles on sites that won’t allow me to use brand names or shamelessly self-promote our company, so I have to tread lightly. However, I can tell you how we shop for equipment like dye sub printers.

First, determine your market. Do you need a 2.1 meter width printer, or a 3.2 meter. What is available? What do your clients need most consistently? If you know that most of your clients order dye sub fabric banners that are 8 feet wide or tall, then a wider printer may be a better investment. If you’re purchasing a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th unit, and you know that you have a lot of waste on your larger printers, you may need a smaller printer.

Next, we want to see our prospective printer in action. If you have a trusted rep at one company or more that can take you to some print shops that print with one of the printers or more that they sell. Continue Reading

How To Take Care Of Your Printer And Save Money

Some households may need to have a printer for different purposes. Usually, these devices are for school work and for business. However, a person who always uses a printer should also know how to take care of it. This means ensuring the integrity of the equipment so it can be used for a long time. If you have a printer of your own, make sure that you know a few tips to maintain and troubleshoot it. Aside from saving money on buying a new one, you could maximize the use of the printer for better value. Moreover, you can save time and effort instead of bringing the printer to a service center because of unwanted damage repairs. So how can we maintain a good printer equipment?

First, make sure that there is always enough ink in your cartridge. These cartridges are sensitive and they should always be in good shape. You can monitor the ink capacity of each cartridge by looking at the label. There is usually a limit on how much ink is left in the container. This way, you can easily have it refilled or you can buy a new one. When you save some ink for the printing, you are maintaining the quality of the prints. There will be no ink mess on the paper and you can easily have documents that are clean and perfect. You need to monitor the ink at least every month if you are printing every other day.
