“I’m unable to configure my wireless printer when McAfee is turned on, how do I fix it? McAfee doesn’t let me share files in my home network, what do I do? After installing McAfee updates, I can’t wirelessly print on my wireless network, what do I do?” These are some of the common problems which users face when using their wireless printer with McAfee program installed. It looks bizarre when some things work with McAfee while some don’t.
McAfee problems can erupt anytime with your wireless printer no matter how hard you try to stave them off. On the other hand, it also doesn’t mean that you’ll continue to face problems when using your wireless printer with McAfee antivirus/firewall turned on. However, there can miscellaneous reasons that may result in such problems that you may or may not be able to fix without professional computer support.
I’m explaining some of the McAfee problems with wireless printers here. Check them out and their possible fixes also:
· Regular use
· McAfee updates
· Windows updates or updates from the printer manufacturer
· Changes in current configuration and settings
· Incorrect printer configuration
· Compatibility issues between McAfee and wireless printer
· Miscellaneous problems
Upon encountering a problem, you should always check the error message first. The error message often indicates problem with a particular program or service. Thus error message itself serves as a possible solution to a problem. I can give you an example of this. Sometimes, when you receive ‘The Print Spooler service has stopped working’, you know what to do. You will restart the Print Spooler service and that’s it. Your problem will be fixed. Though you should also look in to what probably caused to stop it. In a nutshell, I want to say that an error message itself may suggest a solution to your problem.
If you are unable to share your printer with other computer, there can be miscellaneous reasons behind this problem. Upon facing this problem, you can always first check whether you have added the IP address of the printer to your McAfee firewall’s permission list or not. This has been observed as the most common reason in not being able to share printer with other computer or device. So change your McAfee settings to add printer’s IP address to the permitted networks and get going. Now this is not going to fix all the problems related to printer sharing but will definitely fix the one which it is related to.
Bad McAfee updates can surely cripple your printer as well as computer. If this seems to be the case, you must immediately report about it to McAfee technical support. This will help them find out if other customers are also facing a similar problem and thus if there is a need for launching a fix or not. I am also suggesting an article here that describes how you can fix a McAfee-crippled computer.
Like McAfee updates, Windows updates can also be messy. They may result in conflicts between McAfee and your wireless printer. So, install only necessary updates and not all of them. When it comes to driver software for your wireless printer, it will be better if you download them from the manufacturer’s website and not through Windows updates.
Compatibility issues between McAfee and your wireless printer can lead to miscellaneous problems in your computer. McAfee has given a complete chart of compatible McAfee and wireless router/printer versions on its website. Before you buy a wireless printer/router, do check this chart. This helps make sure that you buy the right, compatible version and no issues occur between McAfee and your wireless printer.
Changes in your printer’s or McAfee’s configuration & settings may result in problems. The best thing you can do to fix it is by restoring the old configurations. If the changes are needed, then make sure you do them in the right way. McAfee problems with your wireless printer can also be sorted out using automated troubleshooter either provided by McAfee or your wireless printer manufacturer.
